A Legendary Origin – The Myth Behind Mjolnir
Thor’s hammer was the result of Loki’s mischief gone wrong. After Loki cut off Sif’s hair (bad idea), he had to compensate by commissioning the dwarf smiths Sons of Ivaldi to craft magical treasures. In an attempt to outdo them, the blacksmith Eitri worked his forge, but thanks to a very persistent mayfly (a.k.a. Loki in disguise), the hammer’s handle ended up a bit short. The result?
